Why are termite barriers important?

Smartfilm brand chemical termite blankets are exclusively distributed and installed by our Termi Home & Commercial network. This type of termite barrier uses chemical impregnated blankets to repel termites and discourage them from entering through concealed entry points.
Chemical reticulation soil treatment systems
Chemical reticulation systems for termite management are much like reticulation systems used for watering gardens. These termite barriers are a piping system laid underground around the building and periodically deliver liquid termiticide into the soil.
This type of termite management system is easily recharged with termiticide once the effectiveness of the previous application wears off.
Hand sprayed termite chemical soil treatments
Hand sprayed termite chemical soil treatments are mainly now only used in Western Australia. This method involves applying a termiticide to the soil under the slab, the garage floor and around the outside walls.
Once applied, the treated soil will act as a deterrent to termites for approximately five years before the property requires a “drill and inject” treatment to apply fresh termidicide to the perimeter of the building.
