Termite protection for Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Central Queensland

Central Queensland sits squarely in one of Australia’s highest termite activity zones. Warm temperatures, seasonal rainfall and coastal humidity keep subterranean termites active year-round from the Capricorn Coast to the inland mining towns. For anyone building in the region, termite protection is not an optional extra – it is a core part of the build.

Termi Home & Commercial (Central QLD) has operated from Yeppoon for more than 20 years and is now owned and run by Monty and Alina Fitzgerald, who bring decades of pest management experience from across regional Queensland. This includes 13 years running a pest control business servicing more than 35 mine sites across the Bowen Basin.

Long-serving team members have stayed on through the ownership transition, and the centre remains a licensed pest management company with thousands of Central Queensland homes protected.

The business has also been a member of the Queensland Master Builders Association for over 10 years.

Built for Queensland conditions

The Termimesh System is a physical barrier made from marine-grade TMA 725 stainless steel mesh – a material that does not corrode in the salt air of the Capricorn Coast and is not washed out, diluted or degraded by wet season rain.

The mesh used in the system is too fine for termites to pass through and too strong for them to attack.

Termimesh is installed during construction around penetrations, joints and the slab perimeter, and every installation complies with Australian Standard AS 3660.1. Nationally, the system has been installed more than 700,000 times since its introduction 30+ years ago.

Why Central Queensland builders choose Termimesh

From Rockhampton’s residential corridors to commercial projects in Gladstone, builders choose a system that keeps their programme moving and their handover clean.

  • A QMBA member of more than 10 years – we understand what Queensland builders expect from the trades on their sites
  • Wet season resilient – as a physical termite barrier, installation and performance are far less weather-dependent than treatments that cannot go into saturated ground
  • Two efficient site visits – penetrations and joints before the pour, perimeter after curing, both coordinated with your supervisor
  • Form 16 certification supplied on completion – compliance documentation ready for certifier sign-off and your occupancy requirements
  • Quoting directly from plans – supported by more than 150 specification drawings for residential and commercial installations

Building a new home in Central Queensland?

In a region where termites can do serious structural damage within months, the management system chosen during construction carries real financial weight. Standard home insurance policies across Australia exclude termite damage entirely, so whatever protects your home is the only protection you have.

A stainless steel barrier installed early during construction will protect a building for its entire practical life, with no retreatment cycle and no ongoing cost. If you are signing a building contract in Rockhampton, Yeppoon or Gracemere, ask your builder which termite system is included and whether Termimesh can be specified before your building package is finalised.

The Pledge Guarantee – no dollar limit on repairs

Every Central Queensland installation is backed by the Pledge Guarantee*.

  • 10 years of protection from the date of installation, without compulsory annual inspections during the initial term*
  • Structural repairs covered in full after a breach – there is no upper limit on the amount the Pledge will pay*
  • Extendable warranty beyond the initial 10-year term with approved annual inspections.*
  • Backed by an independent Warranty Fund maintained separately from the business and financial institutions
  • Available to homes, units, commercial buildings and government facilities alike

AS 3660.1 recommends termite inspections approximately every 6 to 12 months, with more frequent inspections advisable in tropical regions.

FAQs About Termite Barriers in Rockhampton

What is the difference between a termite breach and a termite bridge?

A breach is termites getting through the barrier system itself, and it is exactly what the Pledge Guarantee covers. A bridge is termites building around the barrier over something added after construction – garden beds raised against the slab edge, pavers or attachments fixed to the side of the house. Avoiding termite bridging is simple: keep the slab edge and inspection zone clear. It is one of the most valuable things a Central Queensland homeowner can know.

Do you provide Form 16 certification in Queensland?

Yes. On completion of the installation, we supply the Form 16 confirming the termite management system has been installed in accordance with AS 3660.1 and the National Construction Code. Builders receive the documentation needed for certification and handover without having to chase it.

Is Termimesh suitable for commercial and industrial projects?

Yes. The system is regularly used on commercial, industrial and government projects across Queensland, and our team’s background includes years of pest management for large industrial clients across the Bowen Basin.

Complex design configurations used in these projects are covered by our library of Termimesh specification drawings.

Are termites worse near the coast in Central Queensland?

Coastal areas, such as Yeppoon and the Capricorn Coast, experience very high termite activity because humidity and soil moisture remain consistently favourable. Inland centres, like Emerald, still carry substantial risk. Wherever you build in the region, compliant termite management is required – the question is how long the system you choose keeps working.

How far in advance should builders book an installation?

As soon as your slab date is pencilled in. We coordinate the pre-pour visit with your concreter’s schedule, and early notice means the barrier never becomes a point of delay.

Send your plans through at the quoting stage and the booking process takes care of itself.
