Are termite baits better than termite barriers?
They do different jobs. Baiting systems are used to manage termite colonies that are already active, and they rely on ongoing monitoring to stay effective. A physical barrier like Termimesh is installed during construction to stop concealed termite entry before it ever happens. For a new build, a physical barrier provides the foundation of long-term protection, with baiting available as a complementary tool if activity is ever found nearby.
When is the termite barrier installed during a build?
Installation happens in two stages. Before the concrete pour, mesh is installed to construction joints and mesh collars are fitted to pipe penetrations. Installation of mesh to the perimeter is completed after the slab has cured. Both visits are coordinated with your builder, so neither stage delays the programme.
Is stainless steel mesh suited to coastal conditions?
Yes. The TMA 725 alloy used in Termimesh is a marine grade selected specifically for its corrosion resistance. Salt air and damp coastal soils, which can shorten the life of lesser materials, have no practical effect on our mesh, making it well matched to the South West coastline.
