Termite Barriers Port Macquarie & Mid North Coast
Building on the Mid North Coast requires serious protection. The warmth and humidity of our region creates the perfect breeding ground for termites. These pests are a genuine threat to the structural integrity of new homes and buildings in Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, and the Richmond areas. You need a protection system that is stronger than the environmental elements around it.
Termi Home & Commercial (North Coast NSW) provides that security. We are not just a service provider. We are your local neighbours. Owned and operated by Kevin and business partner Trevor Saunders, we have been servicing this region for over 30 years. In that time, we have protected tens of thousands of local homes and businesses from termite damage.
We deliver proven termite management systems for new home and commercial builds from Tweed Heads down to Tuncurry. We protect your investment from the ground up.

Why Physical Protection is Superior
Many people still think the only way to stop termites is through chemical applications. However, prevention is the real key. We focus on physical protection using the Termimesh System. The stainless steel barrier blocks termites from entering your home through concealed entry points.
Termites often enter homes through the tiny gaps around service pipes and construction joints. They travel underground and strike where you cannot see them. A physical barrier stays in place and offers a permanent shield that does not degrade over time.
The Termimesh Difference
Termimesh is the industry benchmark for termite protection. It is the preferred method for many of Australia’s leading builders and architects. Made from superior durable TMA 725 grade stainless steel, the mesh is woven so tightly that termites cannot squeeze through it and the steel is so strong that they cannot chew through it.
In addition, every Termimesh installation comes with our industry-leading Pledge Guarantee. The only warranty that delivers 10 years of cover without the need for compulsory annual termite inspections*.

Seamless Integration with Your Build
We know that timing is everything in construction. Our local team works directly with builders to ensure efficient service. Whether you are building in Lismore, Ballina, Grafton, or Taree, we fit into your trade schedule.
Our team coordinates the installation with the construction timetable, working closely with site supervisors so there are no delays. We secure the mesh collars around pipes and install the perimeter barrier before the concrete slab is poured or any brick is laid. Once the concrete cures, the termite management system is locked in place, becoming part of the building envelope and delivering ongoing protection for the life of the structure.
By choosing Termimesh in your next project, you get the confidence of a national brand backed by the personal service of the local Port Macquarie team.

What is a termite barrier?
A termite barrier is a physical or chemical management system installed in or around a building to prevent termites from gaining access through concealed areas.
At Termi Home & Commercial, we specialise in physical barriers because they provide a poison-free solution to prevent termite entry into a property.
Do termite barriers really work?
Yes. Physical barriers are highly effective when installed correctly. They force termites into the open where they can be spotted during inspections.
The Termimesh System has an outstanding success rate because it eliminates the error margins associated with other methods of termite protection. It physically seals the entry points that termites gain access via.
When to install a termite barrier?
You must install the barrier during the construction phase before the concrete slab is poured. We fit the mesh sleeves to pipe penetrations and secure perimeter barriers to the formwork.
Retrofitting a physical barrier to an existing home is difficult and often impossible. This is why planning for termites during the design phase is critical.
I’m planning to build my home. How can I have Termimesh installed on my new property?
The easiest way to have Termimesh installed in your new home is to discuss your termite protection options with your builder during the selection process. If your builder does not offer Termimesh as a standard inclusion, you can request it as an upgrade. Your chosen builder can then contact our team for a quote.
Any reputable builder should be willing to have this conversation with you.
How long does a termite barrier last?
A physical stainless steel barrier, like Termimesh, is designed to last for the entire practical life of a building. It is not affected by soil moisture or UV light. Other systems, such as chemical barriers, have a limited lifespan. They break down over time and require reapplication every 5 to 8 years to remain effective.
Can you do your own termite barrier?
No. Australian Standards require termite management systems to be installed by licensed and accredited professionals.
You cannot buy certified termite barriers at a hardware store and DIY installation will not meet the National Construction Code. This means you will not receive your occupancy certificate and your home insurance may be void.
Does home insurance cover termites in Australia?
Generally no. Most standard home and contents insurance policies classify termite damage as “preventable.” They do not cover the repair costs. This makes the initial investment in a quality barrier essential. It is your only real insurance policy against the structural damage termites cause. This is why choosing the Termimesh System and the Pledge Guarantee gives you ongoing protection and peace of mind.
Are termite baits better than barriers?
They serve different purposes. Baits are a reactive measure used to control active colonies or reduce termite populations around an existing home.
Barriers are a proactive measure used to prevent entry. For a new build in Port Macquarie, a physical barrier is the superior choice for prevention.
What does a termite barrier look like?
Once the house is finished, you will barely see it. During construction, it looks like a mesh collar around pipes or a strip of steel mesh along the edge of the slab.
In some designs, the edge of the mesh may be visible just above the ground line or pavement level. This acts as an inspection zone.
What is the best protection against termites?
The best protection is an integrated system. This starts with a physical barrier, like Termimesh, installed at the time of construction. It is followed by regular annual timber pest inspections.
The barrier stops them from getting in and the inspections ensure that the environment around your home remains safe. This combination offers the highest level of security for your asset.
